Both Ray Kiogima and Andrew Blackbird are Odawa from Harbor Springs, Michigan, but lived a century apart. They both were translaters of their native language. This book is an excellent resourse about the Odawa, called Ottawa by the settlers.

This is truly an Odawa book that is written by Odawa native speakers and educators, not Ojibiwe teachers claiming that the lanquages are the same. The legends that are contained in this book, and  the first person stories by Blackbird and Kiogima are original and real.
