This article, after giving the history of Walt Disney himself, goes on to analyze various aspects of his films. The article will be used in our researching and analysis of the importance of the mere existence of death in children’s movies. The portion of this article that will be most useful for our research is in the section titled, “Fears, Fairy Tales, and American Culture.” It is here where Laderman discusses the use of death in Disney’s films. Laderman states that Disney uses death and death related topics as a main theme in many of his movies. The article discusses Dinsey’s life and childhood himself and how it is reflected in his films. In relation to the characters, it states that most characters are stereotypical including aspects of good guy verse bad guy, in that the protagonist always wins. Using various examples, Laderman makes an effective analysis of different aspects of Walt Disney’s productions.
