Voldemort (you know, the dark, creepy wizard that gives the series a plot--without spoiling anything, anyway) is rising in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a much darker, much more magical sequel to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.  This is precisely twice...

First, let me clarify that actually I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars, and second, it's not strictly a graphic novel. It's a big, thick kid's book that reads really fast because probably 2/3 of the pages are pencil illustrations,...

I'm actually tempted to add this to my "biography" shelf as well because this story is so close to how Sherman Alexie described his own life when I heard him speak a few years ago at the PLA conference in Seattle.  It's a funny, poignant book about a Spokane Indian teenager who decides to buck...

THE HUNGER GAMES is the best book I have read in a long time. People who are hesitant to read this- (like I was) do not fear. THE HUNGER GAMES will make many people with various tastes satisfied. Suzanne Collins has truly struck gold on this series.
